WE HAVE ARRIVED
The city of New Orleans has welcomed us all into its friends and HUMID arms!
Chance and I arrived last night about 9. The last 109 miles of our flight (about 15 minutes I think) our pilot announced to hunker down. We flew through more lightening that I think I have seen in my lifetime. The plane bounced and rocked from side to side. Carninval ride? WORSE!!! A fairly quick cab ride dropped us on a corner in the French Market area.
We must of looked a bit stunned amongst all the partyiers on the street trying to find the door to our "inn". I had to watch the Zags and UConn game ~ that was quickly turned off ~ to see the sights. Oh, and sights we did see!!
NOLA is a diverse city with culture EVERYWHERE.... all kinds of CULTURE on the streets. We walked up and down streets peeking in shops and resturants that were very lively. Our list of must do's today include the cigar shop, Cafe DuMonte, Preservation Hall, Bourbon Street, French Market, and Bubba Gump Shrimp. These spots are all within a block or two of our inn.
Lynda, Uta and Cindy and families arrived in the wee hours of the morning. They made it safely through Denver without any delays. It was good to see familiar faces.
Today is full of sightseeing and enjoying the city.
